Getting started as a Let’s Talk Science Online Volunteer
Help build a bank of teen-friendly STEM-related content that teachers can use to help students answer the question:
“How am I going to use this in REAL life?”

Online content reviewers
Want to improve your research and science communication skills?
Help the Let’s Talk Science team update content on CurioCity by Let’s Talk Science!
- Review older CurioCity articles (published 2013 or earlier) to make sure they’re accurate and up-to-date. If there is new research on the topic of the article, help us find it!
- Help us find audiovisual material to turn articles into resource packages
Here’s what you need to be an online article reviewer:
- Access to the internet (including a video player)
- Ability to conduct internet research (or a strong desire to learn)
- High level of science literacy
- Basic knowledge of how to evaluate a website for scientific accuracy
- Critical thinking skills

Classroom Content Researcher/Writers
Want to improve your research and written science communication skills?
Help educators across Canada start STEM discussions in the classroom!
Work with a team of professional Let’s Talk Science editors to:
- Research a STEM topic
- Write an article about it
- Package it into a resource package with pictures, videos and discussion questions
Here’s what you’ll need to be a volunteer researcher/writer:
- Experience as an online article reviewer (minimum 2 articles)
- An interest in learning to write about science in plain language
- Access to the internet (including a video player)
- A desire to work with a professional editing team (accept and apply their feedback)
- A strong command of written English (if you are new to writing in English, please have a friend or tutor verify your work before submitting it)
- An interest in education (but you don’t have to be a teacher/educator!)
- An interest in STEM (but you don’t have to be a scientist!)

Career profiles help teens understand how STEM skills and knowledge are important for a wide range of different careers.
Whatever your career, if you use STEM skills (problem solving, decision making, organizing, etc.) and knowledge on the job - however advanced or basic - we want you to tell teens about it!
